Itinerary

Day 1 –Belgrade APT - Hotel

Arrival to Belgrade airport. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon free at leisure. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. Enjoy Belgrade full day sightseeing. Start your tour with visit of the St. Sava Church; continue to the Kneza Miloša Street, the luxurious residential quarter of Dedinje, Memorial of Marshall Tito and Red Star soccer stadium. Then you will see the City Council (‘Old Court’), National Assembly, Terazije, National Theatre, and National Museum and the well-known equestrian statue of Prince Michael (Knez Mihajlo), Republic Square. We will continue to Kalemegdan, the Military museum, ‘King’s Tower’ and ‘Zindan Gate’ and visit the Ružica church, see the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers and the symbol of Belgrade- “Victor monument”. We will walk by the beautiful French Embassy, the Patriarchate, Orthodox Cathedral, the oldest restaurant called “?” and Princess Ljubica’s Residence. Drive back to hotel. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to ″Belgrade Sea″ – Lake Ada Ciganlija, where you can enjoy in swimming, walking, different kind of bars and restaurants. In the afternoon transfer to hotel. Free evening. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. After breakfast we drive to Sremski Karlovci and Novi Sad. This is a full day tour and takes us to the province of Vojvodina, in northern part of Serbia. We will visit Novi Sad, drive to Fruška Gora, Krušedol Monastery. After Fruška Gora we’ll continue to Sremski Karlovci. The town is also well known for wine. We will visit the Museum of Wine and Honey and taste some local wines with brunch in authentic wine cellar. We’ll also visit famous Petrovaradin Fortress; we proceed to the historic nucleus of Novi Sad – capital of Vojvodina province. During the walk we’ll see the Orthodox Church, Bishop’s Palace and Monument to great Serbian poet Zmaj. Pedestrian zone finishes in the beautiful Liberty Square with baroque City Hall, and neo-gothic Catholic Church, both from the late XIX c. Drive back to Belgrade. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast. After breakfast our journey continue to region of Sumadija, south of Belgrade, with drive to Mt. Avala to visit to the Mausoleum of the Unknown Hero, work of Ivan Mestrovic, famous Yugoslav sculptor. It is built on the mountain top (511 m), and offers excellent views of the rolling hills of Sumadija. Visit of the famous Avala Tower – 204 m tall, originally finished in 1965., destroyed in 1999. during the NATO bombing of Serbia
and again rebuilt and opened in 2006. Continue to the very heart of Serbia, well known as Sumadija, with beautiful hilly landscapes. Learn about “rebellious Serbia” and its path of establishing modern state while visiting Oplenac, The Mausoleum of The Serbian Royal Dynasty of Karadjordjevic. Besides King’s Peter House, we will visit one of the most beautiful churches – museums in Serbia, Church of St. George. This church is the mausoleum of the Serbian and Yugoslav Royal family Karadjordjević, decorated entirely with spectacular mosaics and replicas of most beautiful frescoes of the medieval Serbian art. Free time for lunch or short break and drive to Belgrade. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. Check out and drive to Manasija Monastery, founded in the 15th century by Serbian Despot Stefan Lazarevic. It is considered one of the most important cultural heritages of Serbia during the middle Ages. Visit of beautiful Lisine waterfall. Free time for Lunch. After lunch, we will pass through beautiful valleys and picturesque landscapes, reaching the ancient Resavska cave, Serbia’s largest cave system, with total length of about 4.5 kilometers. It is one of the oldest in in Serbia, whose age – existence was estimated to 80 million years, while the oldest cave ornaments date 45 million years back. Resavska cave was formed on three levels which were originally only accessible to cavers and shepherds, but now the upper and lower galleries have been commercialized for tourists The constant Resava cave temperature is 10-14degrees. Drive to Belgrade. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. Today tour includes visiting several fortresses and archeological sites from different historical periods. The first stop is Smederevo fortress which is remarkable for the sheer scale of its defenses and for its state of preservation. After a walk and history lesson about medieval Serbia the tour continues to Golubac fortress. This is a medieval fortress, strategically located on the embankment of the Danube River where it narrows to form the Iron Gate gorge. Visiting Turkish bath, exploring gallery in Visitor center and walking by the Danube River with beautiful view to Iron Gate. Free time for lunch in Golubac. Lepenski Vir is the oldest urban settlement in Europe. This archeological site is one of the best preserved sites in Serbia, and visit includes walking around the site and its gallery, watching a short movie about its excavation and enjoying the virtual walk through Lepenski Vir settlement. The last stop on this tour is Kapetan Mišin breg with a beautiful viewpoint to the Iron Gate. Return to Belgrade late in the evening. Optional lunch/dinner. Overnight.

Breakfast in hotel. After breakfast free time till transfer time to Belgrade airport for your flight home.
