Why TRAVEL??!!

Hmmmmm…why travel? I am frequently asked why should we travel? Should we travel to see the wonders of the world or the man made marvels? Should we travel to taste different food or meet different people? Or is it just to sit and relax? And as you would have guessed by now, there is no right or wrong answer to this –  to each to his own.

Though I can share why I like to travel !!!!! Travelling is probably the only activity which can open your mind, heart and soul (well apart from Meditation 😉 ) – but then Travelling is also a Meditation!!!

Imagine —- Sitting under a Canopy of Stars on board a Polar Expedition Cruise, watching the Dancing Lights of Aurora Borealis, Walking under the Pinkiest Cherry Blossoms in Japan, Eating the Chettinad Curry in Southern India or Dal Makhani in Northern India, Chanting the Mantras with the Tibetan Monks, Being Mesmerised by the  Magnificence of Whales at Hermanus, Climbing the 16 Chained Lakes of Plitvice, Marvelling at Jaw Dropping Height of Burj Khalifa, Checking The Magical site of Expanding Land at Reunion Island—– phew the list is endless !!!! My eyes are already filled with vivid pictures of beautiful sights that await me!!!

A sight however, which never leaves is that of me sitting in a narrow row – boat on the shallow waters of Nalsarovar Lake which expands till the horizon and beyond. Nothing but the Vastness of Sky above and the Depth of Water below. The only sound that I could hear was of the water parting when the boatman rowed the boat – a rare silence that reflected deep within. This coupled with the tiny rain drops and the sun setting in the far horizon – what a sight it was!!!! 🙂 And then the boatman takes you to THE PLACE – MILLIONS OF MIGRATORY PINK FLAMINGOS having their round table conference (noiselessly.. 😉 ). The moment we went near them –  they were up in the sky colouring the sky with their pinkness – it felt as if we invaded something so private and sacred. They flew in the sky in their flock – fearlessly and freely.

Wish we humans could do the same. Wish we too could transcend boundaries without any Passports and Visas. Wish we too could breathe freely and fearlessly – without any judgements and prejudices. Wish we too could travel the distances between hearts and explore a new meaning to travel. And the wishlist continues….

Travel for me is food for my soul – every experience brings me closer to myself – my soul. Every travel brings with it plethora of wisdom and beauty in my life. It enriches life with new cultures, new meanings, tolerance towards others, respecting others, coming close to Divinity and finally coming close to Myself. So, next time why don’t you also travel for your soul???

Blue Duck signs off for now… 🙂

Happy Travel
