Eze – the Hidden Gem

Blue Duck decided to make a stop today at a small village perched on top of a small rocky hill facing the gorgeous and ever-enchanting Mediterranean Sea at the French Riviera. Right at the border of France and Italy, tiny yet culturally rich village of Eze has a welcoming home-like feel to it. It was built as a fortified structure – a fortress in the medieval times and still has the ruins of the fort on the top.

You can sit at one of the look-out points or visit the exotic garden at top and just be by yourself. The narrow cobbled streets beckon you to spend sometime at the family run cafes or the terrace restaurants offering crusty bagel, yummy cheese, some locally brewed coffee or a glass of wine (remember we are in France!!) and of course the most spectacular view of Cote D’Azur.

Azure water, Earth Goddess statues, winding paths and the welcoming locals – all make this place worth a stop!! This is also the place where Frederic Nietzsche who, in the 1880s, walked up and down a hill path to the sea thinking up his philosophy.

So what are you waiting for??? Pack your bags, put some books and your camera and let Blue Duck  fly you to this hidden Jewel of French Riviera nestled right between Nice and Monaco where the rich, famous and the royalty travel!!!
